First Class Learning centre Liverpool have local children of all abilities aged between 4 and 16 doing supplementary maths and/or English from pre-school up to GCSE level.
The post involves helping such children with their work -as such it would be ideal for someone considering teaching or some other child-centred career.
Currently we have 17 undergraduates working for us.
We open after school on Friday evening .
Skills
A very good A-Level pass in either maths or English; an excellent GCSE pass in the other subject; impeccable spoken and written English; the ability to communicate with children of all ages; good references.
Some experience in working with children (e.g. volunteer in a school, summer camp helper, Brownie/Guide leader, etc.) is desirable but not absolutely essential.
A DBS (ex-CRB) certificate will be required, but clearance can be obtained for a successful candidate who doesn't already have it.
Because we open during school holidays, preference will be given to applicants who reside permanently in Liverpool and so are available throughout the year.
It takes a little time to get into the job, and we like to be able to have an assistant for at least two years, so it is almost certain that the successful candidates will be in their first year at uni.
Experience has shown that those reading attendance-intensive university subjects (e.g. medicine) will not have the flexibility to take up these posts.
All the above sounds very formal - but actually the work is in a very informal and friendly atmosphere!
This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children while developing valuable skills in a supportive environment.
