Job Description

The Scottish Bar is one of Scotland's most ancient and prestigious institutions with a membership of about 460 practising Advocates. Most advocates are supported in their professional practices by Practice Managers/Advocates' Clerks employed by Faculty Services Limited. Practice Managers are the primary point of contact for solicitors and others who wish to instruct Advocates to provide legal advice or to appear in court.

AmpersandAdvocates

is a set of Advocates at the Scottish bar, offering expertise and experience across most major areas of legal practice, with particular specialisms in Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury, Commercial and Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Administrative and Public law.

Axiom Advocates

is a set of 58 Advocates specialising in commercial and public law. In particular, Axiom offers specialists in commercial contracts, construction, corporate finance, insolvency, intellectual property, media, planning, property, professional negligence, public law, human rights and regulatory. It has a firmly established reputation for high quality advice and advocacy.

Hours:

35 hours per week, Monday - Friday: 9.00am -5 .00pm



Salary:

Grade 5a 23,796 - 27,547 per annum



(All new appointments will be made at the start of the salary scale)

The post of Clerking Administrative Assistant will provide efficient and accurate administrative support to the Clerks team within the Stable. The role focuses on managing routine administrative and data entry tasks, assisting in ensuring the smooth running of internal clerking operations, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and correspondence.

A basic school education of Higher Grade English, or equivalent, is essential along with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office. Previous experience in an administrative or clerical role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment is desirable. Familiarity with diary management, record keeping, or case management systems is preferred.

In addition to the above, excellent organisational and time management skills are essential along with communication skills, and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
