We are looking for someone who wants to inspire and support climbers of all ages by providing safe, professional instruction and supervision, contributing to the successful operation and welcoming atmosphere of The Showroom Climbing Centre
Job Purpose
The Showroom Climbing Centre is Lincolnshire's premier climbing facility, with an excess of 500 regular attendees and strong relationships with local schools and businesses.
To supervise and instruct adults, children and organized groups in the use of the climbing centre.
To supervise (as required) climbing wall instructors/attendants. To aid with the running of a climbing retail outlet and hit designated sales targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
To effectively induct, support and advise brand new climbers, and climbers attending our Climbing Wall service for the first time.
To undertake instruction of general public classes in a safe and professional manner.
To proactively monitor equipment quality and ensure that all necessary equipment is fit for purpose.
To monitor and ensure all customers' safe use of climbing wall and associated equipment following our safety procedures.
To appropriately report any accidents or incidents, in line with company procedure.
To contribute to discussions about service targets and help deliver those targets.
To help with the planning of events as required, including but not limited to use of the mobile wall facility.
To promote The Showroom Climbing Centre and work collaboratively with other YMCA Lincolnshire services, specifically Youth and Conferencing teams.
To help engage in community outreach and maintain excellent working relationships with schools, businesses and the public by whom the facilities are used.
To maintain good relations with other department heads/staff/volunteers on a day-to-day basis as necessary.
To undertake any other duties as required which are appropriate to the work within The Showroom.
To work towards the Rock Climbing Instructor qualification, if not already attained.
To assist in the provision of 'risk assessments' and to inform the centre management immediately of any accident or incident that requires attention, completing accident report forms as appropriate.
To give advice to customers as requested on all matters relating to climbing instruction.
To operate the membership software system as well as electronic point of sale equipment.
To sell merchandise and other products in the climbing retail shop.
Scope and Limits of Authority
The post holder will be responsible for the climbers within The Showroom and must show full duty of care at all times.
Maintain good relations with other department heads/staff/volunteers on a day-to-day basis as necessary.
Creating and maintaining business relationships with both clients and suppliers to the centre.
Communicate with young people and liaise with the Activities and Community Team where appropriate.
The post holder is required to report anything of significance relating to their work to their line manager.
