Hours of work: 9am - 5.30pm Mon - Fri




Salary: 40,000pa

We are now seeking an experienced and accredited Clinical Coder to join our expanding clinical services team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a national organisation committed to excellence in patient outcomes, data integrity, and clinical quality.


The Role





The Clinical Coder will play a key role in ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely coding of clinical activity across ACES services. Working closely with clinicians, Finance and operations teams, the postholder will support accurate data capture, reporting, and audit processes to maintain regulatory and contractual compliance.



You will ensure clinical documentation is accurately coded to national standards (OPCS, ICD-10) and aligned with NHS and commissioning requirements, supporting robust reporting to commissioners and regulators.


Key Responsibilities




Accurately code all clinical activity using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications in accordance with NHS Digital and local guidance. Validate clinical documentation and liaise with clinicians to ensure completeness and accuracy. Support the submission of data for NHS commissioning, audit, and reporting purposes. Identify discrepancies, trends, or data quality issues, recommending corrective actions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national coding standards and ophthalmology coding best practice. Assist with clinical data audits and reporting in collaboration with the Clinical Services Quality Team. Ensure patient information is managed in line with GDPR and organisational data protection policies.

About You




Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC qualification essential) or working towards full accreditation. Proven experience in a clinical coding role within an NHS or independent healthcare setting. Excellent knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding systems. Strong understanding of NHS data reporting and clinical terminology (ophthalmology experience desirable). Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills. Proactive and organised, able to meet tight deadlines with accuracy Committed to maintaining high standards of data quality and patient confidentiality.
