This is an exciting opportunity to support the establishment and development of a new, evidence and value-based model of care to meet the needs of children and young people with persistent pain and their families. The post is suitable for doctors at any stage of their training post completion of the Foundation Programme. The role is unbanded 5 sessions (18.75hr) and is open to doctors in paediatrics, primary and adult hospital care and mental health services with suitable support where there are training needs and provided there is registration to work in the UK.We are a teaching health board with close links to Cardiff University. The University boasts a high-profile teaching, research and development role within the UK and abroad. Together we are training the next generation of medical professionals. Whilst the posts on offer are not recognised for training, we do offer candidates excellent equal educational opportunities to Deanery trainees, including study leave and rotas.Main duties of the jobIndicative duties for the role will include:? Approximately 1.5 clinics per week including those in persistent pain and rheumatology, plus administrative support? Assessing and supporting inpatient referrals and other ward work? Service development / quality improvement? support for an integrated network of care? Interdisciplinary team working? Teaching and support for community of practiceThere are currently no plans or funds for out of hours commitments. This can be discussed on an individual basis and addressed where suitable funding is available.All Junior Doctor posts in the UHB are compliant with the New Deal and the European Working Time Directive. Qualifications
Essential

  • MB BS or recognised equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
Desirable
  • MSc or PhD
  • Intercalated Degree
  • Academic Excellence (Prizes, merits, distinctions etc.,)
Experience
Essential
  • Clinical experience including ward and clinic duties
  • Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance
Desirable
  • Evidence of interest in paediatrics, or mental health or rehabilitation or primary care

  • Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working and ability to work across organisations
  • Effective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
