Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Oncology and Haematology Research Team as a Clinical Trials Coordinator based at the Freeman Hospital on a full-time basis. The Oncology and Haematology Research Team is a fast-paced, high-pressure team with large portfolio of trials at different stages and with many stakeholders.
The role supports the multidisciplinary team in setting up and delivering a large portfolio of clinical trials across all Haematology and Oncology Tumour Groups in line with Good Clinical Practice and other local and national guidelines and SOPs. The role will work professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be extremely organised, with strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise well. The candidate will be the main point of contact between the local study team and the study sponsors; therefore, professionalism and stakeholder communication and engagement are key requirements. The candidate will be expected to manage multiple tasks, various projects and competing deadlines along with strong IT skills, including Microsoft Packages.

  • To ensure any trials within the post holders remit, carried out in the Clinical Trials Unit are properly conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Research Governance Framework and are compliant with the EU directive for clinical trials. (There can be multiple trials at any given time, in various stages of preparation, inception and completion.)
  • All events pertaining to the treatment of said patients are reported in the agreed timeframes to relevant external trials organisations.

  • Understanding of Trust confidentiality procedures (Data Protection Act, Caldicott guidelines)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
SKILLS
Essential
  • Excellent inter personal skills
  • Ability to communicate well (written and verbally)
  • Advanced IT skills, specifically in database management and use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to use computer software to create and/or develop reporting tools
  • Clear and legible handwriting
