The Club Manager of Activ8 Fitness - Ladies only club in Bedford will be responsible for general running of all aspects of the club with specific emphasis on the sale of new memberships, retention of existing members, management of staff and contractors plus H&S requirements.
CONTEXT OF THE ROLE
The role-holder will have a proven track record of leading high-performing sales teams within a quality-focused service or commercial environment, consistently delivering against key performance indicators (KPIs). A major focus of the role will be to coach, train, and develop a like-minded, results-driven team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to learn and adapt quickly, particularly important in the context of launching a new club. The ideal candidate should have Level 2 qualifications and will also be confident in engaging with gym-goers, bringing a personal touch to the membership experience, and helping to build a vibrant, community-focused atmosphere within the club.
As this club is being developed as a women-only fitness facility, the manager will need to be sensitive to the needs of female members and able to foster a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Sales:
Convert prospective member inquiries into appointments and sales.
Develop membership referral schemes and corporate programs for local businesses and groups
Provide hands-on sales leadership, ensuring effective sales tours and staff performance
Develop a cost-effective corporate membership program aimed at local businesses and customer groups, such as students.
Manage membership systems and achieve daily sales KPIs.
Member Retention:
Analyse membership trends and implement strategies to increase satisfaction and longevity, including for corporate members.
Develop a strong club culture that encourages engagement and belonging.
Club Daily Operations;
Maintain the club to the highest standards of cleanliness and member experience, within budget
Ensure gym equipment is functional, stock levels are adequate, and retail zones are maintained.
Manage staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage during all advertised hours
Ensure that club is staffed during all advertised staffed periods. This will include the management of both expected known absences such as holidays, and unexpected absences such as sickness.
Coordinate with club management programs for membership and direct debit management.
Management, Training and Development:
Lead and develop the Sales and Membership Team through regular 1:1s and motivational campaigns.
Ensure staff provide excellent customer service and are competent in their roles.
Coordinate with Personal Trainers to support their business growth
Marketing:
Full management of social media platforms and club website
Develop and implement sales campaigns using pre-developed materials, supporting sales targets within budget
Health & Safety:
Adherence of Club H&S requirements as specified by Citation. Ensure completion of all recommendations within time frames requested.

Requirements
Proven track record in leading sales teams and achieving KPIs.
Level 2 qualifications (e.g., in fitness instructing).
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to adapt quickly in a new club launch environment.
