CNC Machine Operator (Miller)

Precision Components Ltd is a leading manufacturing of compressor rotor screws based in Rochdale. We specialise in the manufacture of high-quality, precision engineered helical components for various industries.

We are currently seek a time-served CNC Setter-Operator for our

Milling

operations. You must be familiar with FANUC controls and able to read code.

Salary & Benefits:

17.39 - 18.25 per hr (plus premium overtime rates - overtime available)

Two-week rotating shift pattern, 38-hr week - early finish on a Friday:
Week 1: Mon to Thurs: 5:45 till 14:05, Fri: 5:45 till11:45
Week 2: 14:05 till 22:20, Fri: 11:45 till 18:05

Job Purpose:

To set-up and operate the CNC Milling Machines to produce precision components to a high specification and rigorous quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Set up and operate VMC and HMC machines using Fanuc controls Interpret technical drawing and job order to determine machine setup requirements Modify programmes according to part specification Select and install appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and fixtures for each job. Conduct quality control inspections to ensure parts meet specification using conventional measurement techniaques (micrometers /gauges/verniers), diagnose errors and correct any deviation. Monitor machine operations, making necessary adjustments for cutting conditions such as worn tooling and troubleshooting Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimise production processes. Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements:

Minimum three years' experience as a time-served CNC Operator/Setter on VMCs and HMCs Fanuc experience and capable of setting machine for a variety of components Experience in producing complex components to very tight tolerances Ability to work efficiently and accurately with minimum supervision Experience of using inspection equipment -micrometers, gauges and verniers Willingness to learn other machine operations with training Flexibility to work on a rotating shift pattern Willingness to work overtime when required Knowledge of metal cutting techniques and Lean principles Qualified Advanced Modern Apprenticeship or recognised time-served certification Other relevant training an advantage: FLT, health & safety, manual handling, Lean, 5 S, etc.
