Overall Purpose

The CNC Machine Shop Supervisor / Manager is responsible for leading and managing the CNC woodworking machine shop to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. The role focuses on CNC machining operations, staff supervision, and workflow planning to ensure customer demand is met within a retail furniture manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and support a team of up to 15 CNC machinists, providing technical expertise and hands-on guidance with CNC machinery and programming.

Manage daily machine shop operations to maximise efficiency, output, and machine uptime.

Ensure CNC programs, tooling, materials, and fixtures are prepared in advance to minimise machine downtime.

Oversee CNC machining processes including setup, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Collaborate closely with Production, Design, and Quality teams to resolve CNC-related issues and implement effective manufacturing solutions.

Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cycle time reduction, and improved CNC machining accuracy and repeatability.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, and workflow within the CNC workshop.

Work with Production Managers to develop and maintain a preventative maintenance programme for CNC machines and associated equipment.

Ensure all CNC operations comply with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and company procedures.

Skills and Experience

Min 2 years proven experience supervising CNC machining operations within a manufacturing environment.

Strong technical knowledge of CNC routers, tooling, feeds and speeds, and CNC programming (CAD/CAM experience advantageous).

Logical, structured approach to problem-solving and fault diagnosis.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.

Strong planning, organisational, and time-management skills.

High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Pay: 30,000.00-35,000.00 per year
