Machine Commissioner and Technical Support

Summary:


You will report to the Directors and liaise with the Principal Software Engineer. The role will primarily be onsite at our Heybridge site, with occasional offsite work required. You may be required to work at other locations as directed by your manager or based on business needs.

You will have no direct line management responsibilities but will be required to train, mentor, and support colleagues on a day-to-day basis and as directed by your manager.

Duties:



Undertake all aspects of CNC machine commissioning - motor, motion control, PC, peripheral, and software configuration. Configure, commission, and test: Motor / Amplifiers Motion Control Machine Control Software Work with the production team to identify and resolve machine issues. Collaborate with the design team to identify and progress CNC design improvements. Rigorously test CNC machines and ensure they leave the factory 100% tested. Document processes and train team members to undertake them. Become a technical expert in our hardware and software. Support the sales team with hardware and software questions. Provide technical assistance before and during customer demonstrations. Support the sales process by understanding customer business processes and technical requirements, and explaining how our solutions can transform their business. Support customers with hardware and software issues. Undertake training of colleagues and customers in our software. Design and run training courses for customers. Re-create a customer's application utilising Company products only. Film workflows for presentation to customers. Produce physical samples to high standards for shipping. Create software guides for customers. Record training videos of our hardware and software. Work with the Design Team to test and trial new tools. Work with the Development team to test software and provide feedback. Comply with all company policies, procedures, health & safety practices, and training requirements. Undertake additional tasks as needed by your manager or business needs.

Person Specification:


Essential:



Excellent communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and well-organized. Rigorous approach to machine testing. Basic programming skills. Basic electronics fault-finding skills. Good IT/software knowledge (installation and configuration). Ability to coordinate with colleagues. Strong problem-solving skills.

Desirable:



Knowledge of Omron / Delta Tau PMAC systems. Experience commissioning industrial machinery & software. Knowledge of: Motor and amplifier configuration. EtherCAT. Motion control. Electronics expertise. Software support or testing experience. Familiarity with Raspberry Pi.
