Job Description

SEL are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator with experience in both machine operation and CNC programming. The successful candidate will be responsible not only for operating CNC machinery to produce precision components but also for creating, reviewing, and modifying machining files (G-code/CAM files) to ensure optimal production outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of CNC machining and an interest in taking ownership of the full programming-to-production cycle.

Your core material for machining will be HDPE plastics.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (e.g., milling, turning, or multi-axis). Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders. Create and modify CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar). Verify tool paths, feeds, and speeds before running production. Conduct trial runs and make adjustments to programs or machine settings as needed. Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, gauges). Ensure that all machining files are backed up, documented, and version-controlled. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to optimize machining strategies. Perform routine machine maintenance and report faults. Adhere to safety, quality, and production standards.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a CNC Operator (minimum 2-3 years). Competence in reading engineering drawings and GD&T. Strong working knowledge of CNC programming (manual and/or CAM-based). Familiarity with G-code and experience using CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, EdgeCAM, SolidCAM). Basic understanding of materials and tooling (steel, aluminum, composites). Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Skills (Not Essential):

Experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or Inventor). Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles. Experience with multi-axis or live tooling CNC machines.
