Job Description

Job Title: CNC Programmer

Overview:

The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining CNC programs for routing and machining door blanks and components. You'll translate designs into CNC code, ensure high precision, oversee setup & troubleshoot, and work closely with production and engineering teams to deliver quality doorsets efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Optimisation

Interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM files to design CNC programs for machining door panels, rails, stiles, grooves, and decorative inserts. Use CAM software (e.g., X-Door, CalWin) to generate and optimise toolpaths for 3-5 axis routing operations. Select appropriate tooling, cutters, feed rates, speeds, and machining strategies to match material types and production requirements.
Machine Setup & First-Off Testing

Prepare CNC machines: load tooling, fixtures, raw door blanks; load and test-run programs to validate accuracy. Conduct first-off and in-process inspection using precision gauges to ensure components meet tolerances and design specifications. Adjust offsets and tooling configurations to remedy dimensional deviations or improve finish quality.
Support & Troubleshooting

Collaborate with operators during run-ins, offering guidance, resolving errors, and refining programs for efficiency. Diagnose and resolve CNC machine malfunctions or program errors; perform minor hardware tweaks when needed.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement

Maintain a documented library of CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling lists, and change logs. Analyse production data (cycle times, scrap rates) to suggest improvements in programming and machining workflows. Stay current with CAM/CAD software updates and industry best practices to implement lean and 5S principles.
Quality & Safety Compliance

Ensure all operations comply with safety protocols; uphold a clean and orderly work area. Participate in quality control processes, maintain traceability, and report non-conforming parts.

Personal Attributes
