Alchemy Coffee is an independent roastery in Wimbledon that has been producing truly exceptional speciality coffee since 2012 both for its own cafes and its customers, event partners, and home users. An importer, retailer and wholesaler, with trainers, baristas, roasters and engineers on our roster we are able to apply our skills and knowledge for coffee to create the perfect cup, every time. We work with passion, pride, and integrity and believe that what we do is a craft - a blend of art, skill, science and technology.
We're looking for somebody with a love of coffee and a mind for problem solving things to join our team, working in Wimbledon and the greater London area.
You'll predominantly work independently, directly with customers, with high end coffee equipment looking to get them set up or back on the road efficiently, and with care. Sometimes work will fall outside of regular hours, so some flexibility is required.
What you'll do:
- Schedule and carry out routine maintenance of machinery, and liaise with external technicians to certify pressure systems
- Installation of coffee machines, grinder, brewers and filtration at customer sites and events
- Provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding for customers experiencing difficulties
- In-person call outs to sites experiencing issues
- On-site repair of customer equipment
- Carry out hand-over training to ensure all installs are able to be effectively used
- Record keeping of work carried out both routine and unexpected
What we're looking for:
- Somebody who is able to work independently
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- The ability to solve problems in situ, both independently and with others
- Strong communication and time management skills
- A passion for all things coffee
- Flexibility with time
- Barista skills would be a bonus, but not a direct requirement of the role
- A full UK driving license
- The right to work in the UK
What you'll get
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays (additional for length of time at Alchemy)
- Company pension
- Training and ongoing support
- Autonomy to manage your own time
- Damn good coffee, always
- Salary commensurate with experience
The role of Coffee Technician and Engineer is a hands-on job that will see the successful applicant working directly with our roasters, cafes, customer sites and head office. Time is split between working at our Wimbledon roastery maintaining our stock of machines for customers and events, and visiting both our own and client sites around the London area to inspect, advise, install and repair coffee machines, grinders and brewers.
We are looking for somebody with an aptitude for multi-tasking, problem solving, and organisational skills to keep everything in order. You'll receive training and ongoing support from our current Engineer. We are keen to hear from applicants with a variety of experience.
Experience in the coffee industry is not essential, though a passion for coffee is definitely preferred. You will also have to opportunity to join events occasionally, so coffee bar experience is a plus.
