About the role

The purpose of the role is to support the business in executing all necessary financial processes and reporting in relation to its trading and regulatory activities

ENGIE are recruiting for a Commercial Accountant based in Leeds. This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support timely and accurate performance of all back-office activities such as trade confirmations, netting statement preparation and third party supplier invoice validation.
  • Support the delivery of timely and accurate reporting of all derivatives balances, covering both statutory and management reporting.
  • Support the delivery of timely and compliant regulatory reporting and scheme claims such as Ofgem and BEIS reporting.
  • Help with industry related external audit engagements such as those required by schemes covering Renewables Obligation, Feed-in Tariff and governmental energy bill support.
  • Analyse supplier security requirements of key industry suppliers such as Elexon.
  • Help with the response to external audit requests assigned to the team and ensure they are completed in a timely and accurate manner through effective planning and robust data preparation.
  • Provide excellent development of assistant accountants through excellent coaching.
Key Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to apply professional techniques in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Degree level or equivalent ;
  • Qualified accountant (preferred)
  • Practical experience of accounting, financial accounts or experience in other departments with similar finance disciplines.
  • Knowledge of the Energy industry
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Able to analyse complex accounting and operational data using Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines
