A Commercial Administrator to support the Commercial Manager and Senior Quantity Surveyor in delivering effective risk and change management on the A57 project. This role will involve a range of commercial administrative duties that are critical to the successful implementation of NEC Option A contract processes.
The Commercial Administrator will assist in the coordination and administration of key commercial functions, including the management of contract notices, risk registers, and change documentation. This support will help ensure that the project team maintains compliance with contractual obligations and secures Balfour Beatty's commercial entitlements.
This is a development role suited to individuals who are academically qualified to GCSE or A-Level standard and are currently undertaking, or planning to undertake, a part-time or block-release programme towards a construction-related HNC or HND. The role also includes progression towards a vocational NVQ qualification in Quantity Surveying, with the potential for professional accreditation through RICS or ICES
What you'll be doing
Risk Management
Assist in gathering data and conducting research on current construction-related risks under supervision.
Maintain accurate records of risk management strategies and support the preparation of risk documentation.
Provide administrative support for the operation and upkeep of risk management systems and registers.
Change Management
Support the administration and upkeep of CEMAR to ensure timely and accurate processing of notices and communications.
Liaise with the wider project team to collate supporting documentation, including cost data, programme updates, and substantiation for compensation
events.
Support the monitoring change management activities by contributing to the preparation of progress and status reports.
Procurement Support
Assist in collecting and organising information required.
Record and document procurement activities, including expressions of interest and supplier engagement.
Develop an understanding of procurement processes and associated documentation requirements.
Development, Recruitment and Retention
Maintain an up-to-date Personal Development Plan (PDP) aligned with role progression and learning objectives.
Work towards and achieve HNC/HND and NVQ qualifications at a minimum merit level.
Progress towards Associate Membership of a recognised professional body such as the RICS or ICES
