We have an excellent opportunity to join Smiths Detection (Part of the Smiths Group) as a Commercial and Contracts Excellence Manager for Services.

In this position, you\'ll shape our services contract management function through visionary mindset and strategic acumen. You\'ll design and implement cutting-edge tools, processes and methodologies and evolve our service contract offerings. Your keen eye for new solutions and opportunities will enable our teams across the world secure lucrative service contracts propelling our business forward.

Driving the achievement of service contract business cases will be a priority throughout their lifecycle. Your meticulous attention to detail and commercial acumen will be deployed to optimise pricing strategies, cost profiles and contractual terms whilst identifying opportunities to grow margin and revenue. Concurrently you\'ll deploy effective risk management, safeguarding our interests and profitability.

Communication and leadership will be key aspects of your role. You\'ll mentor and support regional commercial teams, provide them comprehensive cross-functional training, and deliver insightful business planning. Transparent contract performance reporting will drive accountability across the organization and by fostering a culture of excellence, you\'ll inspire and empower our team to surpass expectations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a detailed picture of the portfolio of service contracts and performance against the business case
  • Evolve the company approach towards contract management focusing on improvement of financial performance
  • Track risk and opportunity across the portfolio of contracts
  • Design methods to identify proactively capture additional revenue, optimise pricing and contract renewal outcomes
  • Drive continuous profit improvement and cost optimisation projects
  • Ensure appropriate contractual requirements flow down mechanisms are deployed with the business
  • Monitor, analyse, report and action contract performance metrics, contract risks and penalties
  • Conduct regular reviews with stakeholders
  • Oversee contract change approvals governance working within Financial and Legal DOAs
  • Support a function of regional specialists, develop cross functional training and share best practice
  • Draft and implement tools, processes, standards, polices and templates including precedent contracts
  • Lead or input to the design and development of new service contracts offerings and service level agreements
  • Manage service contract revenue and profit forecasting, demand planning and contract related data
  • Act as an expert adviser, support specific commercial and contracts projects with Sales and Customers as identified.

The Individual

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent
Experience:
  • Commercial management of \xc2\xa3m business
  • Optimisation of significant \xc2\xa3m contracts for service, delivery of margin and revenue improvements
  • Commercial function development including creation of contracting tools, polices and processes
  • Influencing and leading people outside of direct reporting relationships in a matrix structure
  • Engineered products with a significant aftermarket and service business in B2B/B2G setting
  • Operating in a multi-geography, international customer base
Knowledge/Skills
  • Exceptional business and analytical skills
