BAT UK IS LOOKING FOR A COMMERCIAL FINANCE INTERN

SENIORITY LEVEL: Internship

JOB TITLE: Commercial Finance Intern

DURATION: 6 months (high possibility to be prolonged to 12 months)

FUNCTION: Finance

SUB FUNCTION: UK&I Finance

CITY & COUNTRY: London, Chiswick

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

We are looking for an intern to join our UK&I Finance Team for BAT UK. The role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations in Commercial Finance. It is a 6-month internship based at Chiswick office in London. You will not only gain practical experience within the Finance team but will also have opportunities to understand how the business operate with departmental inductions.

Reports to: Commercial Finance Manager
Geographic Scope: UK & Ireland

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• Supporting Financial data collection from various teams (Trade, Marketing, Supply Chain).
• Involvement in Credit Control, working closely with Trade and Customer Service Teams to investigate pricing claims and raise related credit notes
• Exposure to revenue stream, assisting the team with pricing maintenance in the system (SAP & D365), as well as making sure the controls in place are being adhered to
• Vendor/Customer system maintenance that requires coordination and communication with all the functions in the business
• Developing and maintaining financial models for various purposes (Promotional Spend, Overheads, Customer margins, Customer profitability) compatible with our planning system.
• Supporting with Month End procedures: consolidation of accruals, posting journals, recharges, ensuring all the corrections are done, etc.
• Ad-hoc finance support/ projects.

CAN THIS BE YOUR FUTURE ROLE?

• Do you have a genuine interest in Commercial Finance and are you comfortable working with Excel?
• Do you have financial or economics studies?
• Do you have excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to work?

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar. Genuine interest in Finance.
• Basic knowledge of Financial and Accounting processes.
• Strong Excel skills (XLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, Pivot tables). General confidence in working with numbers and multiple large spreadsheets.
• Good PowerPoint skills (especially charts). Power BI skills are beneficial.
• You are an analytical thinker who loves numbers and has an eye for details.
• Excellent communications skills (as you will be working with multiple stakeholders across functions and levels).
