Role Overview



The Commercial Gas Engineer will deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality mechanical service, maintenance & installation activities across Dynamic FM's client portfolio, including out of hours via a call out rota.

The role focuses on

commercial gas plant

, associated heating systems, and supporting mechanical services, ensuring statutory compliance, operational reliability, and excellent customer service.

The role also supports Dynamic FM's

future-focused approach

, including digital maintenance delivery, energy efficiency, and the transition towards low-carbon heating technologies.

Key Responsibilities



Technical Delivery



Carry out

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)

,

reactive & installation works

on commercial gas appliances and associated plant in accordance with statutory requirements and manufacturer instructions. Undertake fault finding, diagnosis, repair, and replacement of gas-fired heating systems, boilers, burners, pipework, and ancillary equipment. Complete minor mechanical & plumbing works where required under contract. Identify, clearly report, and where authorised, rectify defects and non-compliances. Support commissioning, shutdowns, and seasonal changeover activities.

Compliance & Safety



Ensure all works comply with: Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations Health & Safety at Work Act Relevant British Standards and Approved Codes of Practice Maintain

valid Gas Safe registration

and ensure all competencies remain in date. Accurately complete gas safety certificates, service records, and compliance documentation. Work in accordance with Dynamic FM's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems. Participate in site inductions, RAMS briefings, permit-to-work systems, and toolbox talks.

Digital & Administrative



Use

CAFMs and mobile technology

to manage tasks, update job status, upload certification, and provide real-time reporting. Ensure all electronic paperwork is completed accurately and submitted within required timescales. Provide clear technical feedback to Contract Managers to support lifecycle planning and asset management.

Customer & Contract Support



Act as a professional ambassador for Dynamic FM at all times. Liaise effectively with clients, site representatives, and other contractors. Support small works, surveys, and quotation activities by providing technical input and site information. Monitor visiting subcontractors where required, including escorting, permit control, and quality oversight.

Continuous Improvement & Sustainability



Proactively identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency, reliability, and compliance. Demonstrate awareness of low-carbon heating technologies (e.g. heat pumps, hybrid systems) and support transition projects where required. Participate in training, upskilling, and competency development aligned with Dynamic FM's growth strategy.

Essential Skills & Experience



Proven experience

in a

commercial gas maintenance

role within FM, public sector, or complex commercial environments. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across gas-fired plant and heating systems. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively across multiple sites. High standard of written and verbal communication. Strong customer service ethos with a "right first time" approach. Competent user of mobile devices, CAFM systems, and digital reporting tools. Flexible, proactive, and solution-focused mindset.

Essential Qualifications & Certifications



Gas Safe registered

with valid commercial core competencies, including: CCN1 / COCN1 TPCP1 / TPCP1A CODNCO1 Relevant commercial appliances (as applicable), e.g.: CIGA1, CDGA1, CORT1, ICPN1 NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical or Heating Engineering (or equivalent). Driving License

Desirable Qualifications



Additional HVAC or mechanical services qualifications. IPAF and/or PASMA. Awareness or training in low-carbon heating technologies (e.g. ASHPs, hybrid systems). Experience working within: Education Healthcare Transport infrastructure Social housing or public sector estates
