Company Overview:
We are a leading renewable energy developer specialising in the design, engineering, and construction of large-scale solar PV systems. Our projects range from commercial rooftop installations to utility-scale ground-mount systems. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Solar PV Estimator to join our growing team.
Job Summary:
The Solar PV Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for rooftop and ground-mounted photovoltaic systems up to 70MW+ and other electrical infrastructure including EV and other energy saving technologies. This role involves analysing project specifications and design documents, performing quantity take-offs, and collaborating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure high-quality bids and proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse project plans, specifications, and site assessments for rooftop and ground-mount solar PV systems.
Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor costs, and contingencies.
Maintain and update a database of materials pricing across a range of manufacturers and wholesalers
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop optimal system layouts and accurate bill of materials.
Conduct site visits (as needed) to evaluate project-specific conditions affecting pricing and logistics.
Prepare, circulate and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
Support business development, Project management and sales teams with technical input and bid documentation.
Prepare client facing proposals and tender submissions.
Maintain an up-to-date cost database and estimation tools.
Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
Stay current with industry trends, codes, and product innovations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in solar PV estimation, including large-scale systems up to 70MW.
Proficiency with PV design and estimating software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst, AutoCAD, Excel, Procore).
Strong understanding of electrical and civil construction practices related to solar installations.
Desirable skills: BESS technical and financial modelling. Understanding of PPA model.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
NABCEP certification or equivalent technical credentials.
Experience with battery energy storage system (BESS) integration is a plus.
Knowledge of permitting processes and utility interconnection requirements.
