What will I be doing as Commis Chef?
As a Commis Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen. Your experience in food preparation, attention to detail, organisational skills, and effective communication will be essential as part of our pre-opening kitchen team.
Your primary responsibility will be to maintain order, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety regulations during your shift. You'll be responsible for preparing dishes for our guests, following specific instructions for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner service. In addition, you will efficiently handle orders for in-room dining and ensure timely delivery to waiting staff. It will be your duty to maintain the correct portion control and ample Mise en place for smooth kitchen service.
As a Commis Chef, you will follow the correct recipes, preparation methods, and presentation guidelines to ensure that all menu items are properly prepared. All purchased and prepared foods must be appropriately labeled, dated, rotated, and stored under hygienic conditions.
Your role will involve monitoring all food and kitchen supplies deliveries, taking note of quality, quantities, prices, and addressing any discrepancies or missing items. Additionally, you must ensure that all food preparation areas are kept clean and in good working order.
What are we looking for?
Prior experience as Commis Chef in a luxury hotel
Have a Food Safety and Culinary qualification or equivalent
Good command of both written and spoken English
Work well in a small team, taking ownership of their section
Willingness to have a flexible working pattern to fit in with the needs of the business Restaurant pre-opening experience appreciated
Have the ability to prioritise different tasks and requests
