About the Job:




As a Commis Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the kitchen team to deliver a refined and memorable dining experience for our owners and visitors. Working under the guidance of the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef, you will assist with food preparation, kitchen hygiene, stock handling, and daily service operations.


This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that would suit someone passionate about food, eager to learn, and looking to grow their culinary skills within a high-end residential hospitality setting.

Key Responsibilities:



Food Preparation & Cooking



Assist in preparing fresh ingredients (e.g., vegetables, meats, sauces) for daily service. Support the production of menu items under the guidance of senior chefs. Learn and practice culinary techniques and presentation standards. Prepare simple dishes and garnishes to specification.

Kitchen Support & Hygiene



Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workstation at all times. Ensure all kitchen areas and equipment are cleaned regularly in line with hygiene standards. Support cleaning schedules, washing utensils, and maintaining general kitchen tidiness. Handle deliveries, ensuring stock is correctly stored and rotated (FIFO).

Stock Management



Receive and check food deliveries for quality and quantity. Assist with stock ordering, labelling, and stock rotation procedures. Ensure ingredients are stored safely, hygienically, and in accordance with food safety guidelines.

Team Collaboration



Work closely with all members of the kitchen and wider hospitality team. Follow directions from senior chefs with a positive and proactive attitude. Communicate effectively to support a smooth and professional service environment.

About You:




To be successful in this role, the Commis Chef will possess the following:

+ Basic knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and cleanliness. + Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for high-quality food.
+ Previous experience in a professional kitchen or food service environment.
+ Basic knife skills and knowledge of food prep techniques.
+ Ability to follow instructions and take initiative when required.
+ Strong work ethic and willingness to support a team environment.
+ Positive attitude, reliable nature, and good communication skills.
+ Awareness of stock control and kitchen best practices.
+ Formal food safety training or willingness to complete on-the-job training
+ You will be required to pass background checks including an enhanced DBS in line with safeguarding requirements.
