The Plough Pyecombe is a small business in Pyecombe along the Southdowns in Sussex, we are a short stride from Brighton, along the A23, Postcode BN45 7FN.

Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and passionate Line Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in culinary techniques and a commitment to food safety and quality. As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in meal preparation and food preparation, ensuring that each dish meets our high standards of excellence. This position requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.

Responsibilities



Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards. Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and portioning. Ensure all food safety protocols are followed, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours. Monitor stock levels of ingredients and communicate needs to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager. Maintain an organised workstation, ensuring all utensils and equipment are clean and ready for use. Participate in menu development by providing feedback on dishes and suggesting improvements. Help train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety standards.

Requirements



Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment. Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff. A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques in meal preparation. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required. Culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are advantageous but not essential.

Pay: 26,798.00-32,750.00 per year

Expected hours: 16 - 42 per week
