The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commissioning Discipline Engineer. The Commissioning Discipline Engineer will lead the definition, planning, coordination, and execution oversight of all commissioning engineering activities for a major oil and gas project in Nigeria. Working as part of a multi-discipline commissioning team under the leadership of the Commissioning Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for executing the commissioning of your assigned systems and ensuring that they are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with OPERCOM methodology and ICAPS processes.

Key Responsibilities:



Commissioning Engineering:



Execute system-level and discipline-specific commissioning activities to ensure safe and efficient startup readiness. Review and validate engineering deliverables (P&IDs, SLDs, loop diagrams, cause & effect matrices, etc.). Assist in preparing and executing test procedures (OTP, leak tests, functional testing, etc.). Ensure completion and updating of punch lists, commissioning dossiers, and test records in ICAPS (or equivalent). Coordinate with construction, pre-commissioning, operations, and vendor teams to manage discipline interfaces. Troubleshoot and resolve field issues during commissioning, ensuring any modifications are documented and approved. Attend and contribute to commissioning planning and progress meetings. Ensure compliance with project HSSE standards, PTW system, and job risk assessments. Witness and verify vendor start-up and testing activities.

Coordination & Interface Management:



- Serve as the principal interface with vendors, OEMs, 3rd party certifiers, and client teams.
- Collaborate with construction to ensure seamless mechanical completion and handover.
- Liaise directly with the client's HSSE, operations, and construction teams to align expectations and timelines.
- Chair or participate in planning meetings and readiness reviews.

Documentation & Systems:



- Ensure pre-commissioning documentation is updated, traceable, and integrated with ICAPS database.
- Develop and maintain project S-curves, execution schedules, resource plans, and progress reporting tools.
- Coordinate inputs from all relevant subcontractors, vendors, and licensors.

HSSE Responsibilities:



- Contribute to the development and enforcement of HSSE plans related to pre-commissioning.
- Ensure risk assessments, job safety analysis, and permit-to-work procedures are embedded into all activities.
- Participate in HSSE audits and ensure corrective actions are documented and implemented.

Required Qualifications & Experience:



- Vast experience or qualifications in Engineering or relevant technical field.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in oil & gas pre-commissioning and commissioning roles.
- Proven track record leading commissioning/pre-commissioning teams across major projects.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with Nigerian regulatory environment and prior Nigeria project experience (preferred).
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); French language skills a plus.
