About the role
The Communications & Impact Manager will lead LTSB's external communications and impact insight, ensuring our voice is consistent, compelling and credible. The role has a strong focus on high?quality
day?to?day communications and on analysing programme impact data (collected by programme teams) and translating it into clear, evidence?led narratives that support fundraising, partnerships, recruitment and LTSB's wider profile.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering LTSB's communications strategy, managing core digital channels, overseeing PR and profile?building activity, and embedding robust measurement and learning across communications. The role line?manages the Communications Coordinator and works closely with the CEO, SLT, Fundraising and Programme teams.
We are a remote-based organisation which promotes flexible working. This role will require frequent travel to our hub cities (Birmingham, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow).
The Role
Main Responsibilities
Communications Strategy
Develop and deliver an integrated Communications Strategy, aligned with organisational goals, fundraising ambitions, and programme needs.
Translate strategic objectives into clear annual and quarterly communications plans.
Ensure communications reflect LTSB's values and commitment to social mobility.
Line management, setting priorities, providing feedback and enabling effective delivery.
Impact Insight & Measurement
Lead LTSB's approach to impact insight, working closely with programme teams who collect data.
Analyse quantitative and qualitative programme data against LTSB's outcomes framework, identifying key insights, trends and learning.
Turn impact data into compelling narratives for external audiences, including funders, partners, employers and the wider sector.
Lead the production of LTSB's Annual Report.
Ensure impact learning informs communications planning, campaigns and organisational messaging.
Managing Communications Outputs
Hold overall responsibility for LTSB's core communications channels, ensuring consistent, high?quality output.
Oversee email marketing and supporter communications, including newsletters and campaign emails.
Provide strategic direction to the Communications Coordinator on social media content and performance.
Oversee website content, ensuring it clearly communicates LTSB's impact and routes to engagement
Brand, Content & Tone of Voice
Ensure consistent application of LTSB's brand, owning tone of voice and visual identity across all channels.
Main Responsibilities
Lead internal adoption of brand systems, templates and guidance that enable efficient, consistent communications.
Produce and oversee high?quality content including annual report, impact stories, case studies, fundraising appeals, partnership materials and sector commentary.
Build and maintain a strong bank of stories, testimonials and visual assets that showcase LTSB's impact.
PR, Media, Awards & Profile
Position LTSB as a credible, evidence?led voice on social mobility and youth employment.
Identify and pursue proactive PR opportunities aligned with LTSB's strategic priorities.
Draft press releases and media briefings, supported by the Communications Coordinator.
Monitor developments in social mobility, education and youth employment and advise SLT on appropriate communications responses.
Identify relevant awards opportunities and lead submissions in partnership with programme and employment teams.
Represent LTSB in coordinated sector campaigns, statements and collaborations where appropriate.
Supporter, Funder & Corporate Communications
Work closely with the Fundraising team to deliver effective supporter journeys and stewardship communications.
Support the development of compelling materials for funders, including proposals, reports and impact updates.
Contribute communications assets for corporate partnerships, sponsorships and employer engagement.
Measurement, Insight & Reporting
Set and monitor KPIs across communications activity, including digital performance, engagement and reach.
Use insight and performance data to continuously refine approach and improve effectiveness.
Report quarterly on progress, risks and opportunities within communications.
Ensure GDPR compliance and responsible, ethical use of data and stories.
Person Specification
What you'll bring
Knowledge & Experience
Significant experience in communications, marketing, or digital engagement, ideally within a charity or purpose-driven organisation.
Experience leading impact measurement, in particular analysing data to provide insight led communications and reports
Proven ability to develop and deliver communications strategies.
Strong track record of producing high-quality written content for diverse audiences.
Experience managing social media channels and growing engagement.
Experience supporting fundraising or income generation communications (corporate, trusts, individual giving, or events).
Understanding of brand management and visual identity.
Experience working with CRM systems.
Familiarity with website CMS platforms and SEO principles.
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical storytelling. Skills
Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
