About Bath Mind
Bath Mind are a local and independent mental health charity working across Bath & North East Somerset. While we are affiliated to the national Mind charity, we receive no direct funding from the national charity and work independently to develop our own services that suit local needs.
Established in 1998 by a group of people with lived experience of mental illness, we work tirelessly to provide support, information, advice, and activities for individuals in our community. We are in contact with thousands of individuals annually to support them with a greater understanding of their mental health, focusing both on preventing mental ill health and improving mental well-being.
About the role
This role is central to the charity, leading communications and marketing for both the services we deliver and fundraising. The Communications & Marketing Lead plays a key role in driving Bath Mind's income generation and organisational growth - working closely with both the Business Development team, where this role sits, senior leaders and service staff.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to develop their skills within our dynamic Business Development team.
Overall Responsibilities:
Raise the profile of Bath Mind by enhancing and growing the organisation's digital channels and print resources
Champion and communicate the heart and impact of Bath Mind's work
Maintain and grow vital relationships such as local press and PR contacts
Work with the wider Business Development Team to develop the charity's brand and public relations
Lead on managing Bath Mind's brand and supporting the charity to best utilise our brand and tone of voice both internally and externally
Comply with Bath Mind's policies and procedures
Specific Responsibilities
Work with the Director of Business Development to implement and update the charity's communications and marketing strategy
Manage Bath Mind's social media channels including compelling content creation and community engagement
Oversee Bath Mind's website, ensuring accurate service information, functional referral forms, up-to-date blog content, and well-maintained product listings
Work with service managers across the charity to share relevant media (case studies, videos, photos) across our digital and print platforms
Manage and implement Bath Mind's email newsletters using Mailerlite; segment and maintain email audiences
Work with Fundraising and the wider Business Development team to develop campaigns around key awareness events (e.g. Mental Health Awareness Week, World Mental Health Day, Time to Talk Day, Christmas), with a focus on engagement and income generation
Lead on press and print communications for the charity
Maintain Bath Mind's media library in line with GDPR, ensuring proper storage of media assets and that valid consent is obtained for all photos and case studies
Manage and develop relationships with key stakeholders to widen our network and increase engagement
Manage Bath Mind's Google Analytics account and related digital marketing tools
Conduct SEO reviews and implementation
Act as Bath Mind's Connecting Minds champion to connect the charity with the wider Mind federation

Person Specification
Bath Mind is dedicated to supporting staff to enable them to carry out the role and responsibilities to the best of their ability and we are committed to developing staff with a comprehensive training package.
Essential criteria
Proven experience using content management systems (CMS), ideally WordPress
Experience creating and scheduling social media content
Proficient in email marketing platforms (MailerLite)
Skilled copywriter, able to adapt tone and style for different audiences
Proficient in Canva or similar graphic design tools
Experience writing press releases and building relationships with media contacts
Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
Solid understanding of GDPR and data protection best practices in marketing and communications
The need to be flexible and adaptable
Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar tools for monitoring digital performance
