Communications and Marketing Officer
----------------------------------------
Job description
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Play a key role in delivering communications which engage and raise awareness for children, families, and schools.
We require a dynamic and creative Communications and Marketing Officer to join the SEND and Education division within Social Care and Education. This is an exciting opportunity that will enable you to lead and improve communications that support children and young people across the city, working closely with schools, families, and partner organisations.
Our work in SEND and education puts schools, children, young people and their families at the heart of everything we do. As a communications team, we adopt a campaign-based approach, underpinned by the Government Communications Service (GCS) principles, to everything we do. We believe the most effective communications are simple, evidence-based communications that reach the right people at the right time with the right message.
Join our professional and dynamic team to produce an effective multi-channel communications and engagement plan that supports the council's work in SEND and education - building confidence in the council amongst senior management, residents, and wider key stakeholders.
This post is full time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week. We offer a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to Head of Systems Performance and Quality, you'll agree work priorities with management to create content and key messages that provide information for key partners across SEND, Education and Children's Social Care. Assisting in the stakeholder engagement, you'll ensure information is communicated accurately and timely. You'll create accessible communications that includes content for use across both digital channels and printed materials, including updating website content, social media posts, intranet, and newsletters. You'll deliver consistent messages that support our objectives in a highly professional manner, engaging both internal and external audiences, and bringing together stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach.
What you'll need
With a proven track record in delivering high profile or sensitive campaigns within a large, complex organisation or matrix management model, you'll have considerable experience of briefing and advising senior management on communications approaches. You'll have experience of devising, delivering, and evaluating multi-channel marketing campaigns using insight to inform these with a sound understanding of how different channels reach different audiences. With strong copywriting skills, you'll be able to adapt your communication style to suit the audience. You'll have strong collaboration, stakeholder, and relationship management skills to be able to negotiate, and command the confidence the others. Highly motivated, you'll be passionate about communications and care deeply about the customers we serve.
What we can offer you
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from several flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
