Location

: St Albans office and remote working

Salary

: Competitive, depending on qualifications and experience

Contract

: 1 Part-time post (2-3 days a week), 13-14/hour depending on experience

This is an exciting opportunity to join the core team of a small but influential institute, striving to bring about positive change by applying 21st century scientific rigour to a 200-year old medical discipline.

The Homeopathy Research Institute (HRI) is a UK-based charity dedicated to generating high quality research in homeopathy, and communicating the results of such research, at an international level. HRI was founded in 2009 and over the past 14 years the institute has evolved and matured to become widely acknowledged as the leading organisation worldwide for rigorous academic expertise and reliable information on homeopathy research.

As HRI continues to grow, we are seeking a creative, proactive, and digitally-savvy Communications Assistant to support our full-time Communications Manager in enhancing our online presence and ensuring our digital platforms reflect the high standards and importance of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Content & Scheduling



Create and schedule engaging content across HRI's social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

Assist in developing social media campaigns around events and key announcements

Monitor social channels and respond to messages/comments where appropriate

Website Management



Assist with the regular updating and maintenance of the HRI website (WordPress)

Upload new content, including news articles, research updates, and event information

Monitor website performance and report technical issues

Assisting with management of web content translations

Content Creation



Design engaging visuals using Canva/Adobe Creative Suite or similar

Help draft posts and blogs summarising research updates in a user-friendly tone

Support the Communications Manager in developing digital materials (e.g. infographics, short video clips)

Fundraising and donor management



Assist with fundraising efforts by managing donor communications, maintaining accurate donor records, and supporting grant applications and fundraising campaigns.

Analytics & Reporting



Tracking KPIs with relevant analytic tools

Assist in preparing monthly reports on web and social performance

Key Skills & Experience:



- Strong understanding of social media platforms and current trends

- Experience using WordPress (or similar CMS) to update websites

- Confident using Microsoft Office and other relevant software and digital tools

- Excellent written English, with an eye for detail and ability to communicate complex ideas simply

- Strong graphic design skills (e.g. Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)

- Organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently

- Interest in science communication or complementary medicine is a plus
