We're looking for a proactive Communications & Engagement Officer to craft clear, impactful messages and build meaningful engagement with our residents.
Job purpose
Work closely with senior officers and councilors to help manage, protect and enhance the reputation of the Council by delivering a high quality, responsive and proactive communications service including work on our residents 'digital newsletter, press and publicity, social media, website content and specific campaigns.
Support the Communication and Engagement team in developing a strong brand and narrative for East Devon District Council that supports the Council Plan and service priorities.
Ensure the Council has an open, transparent and positive dialogue with local communities, businesses, and individuals through targeted use of digital and social media, strong relationships with local media and providing professional communications and engagement advice to support colleagues as the Council's ambassadors and advocates.
About you
We're looking for someone who has genuine care for embedding the community voice in our work through engagement and who has high standards for delivering exceptional communications.
Passionate and motivated to deliver powerful messages to residents, stakeholders and staff, you'll possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be highly organised. You'll be able to work on your own initiative and support the rest of the team where necessary. The nature of the role is fast-paced and often responsive, so the ability to balance priorities and pressure is essential.
