Job Description


As a communications executive, you will contribute to and support the delivery of our corporate communications strategy, promoting the success of Motability Operations externally to different audiences and through different channels, protecting our reputation at all times.

You will support the communications manager to plan and deliver consistent external communications for strategic projects with organisation-wide significance, working with external and internal stakeholders, our agency partners, and the media, to support our business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the communications manager in delivering comprehensive communications strategies to maximise our sponsorship agreements (such as with British Wheelchair Basketball) including media, social media and marketing channels, and work closely with sponsors and our sponsorship team to raise awareness of both Motability Operations and the Motability Scheme. Help will help with capturing and sharing results and measurements to report our success.
  • Assist with the delivery of external communications for time-limited business projects, as well as projects owned by the Motability Foundation that impact Motability Operations, to maximise communications opportunities and ensure consistent messaging, working closely with our internal communications team to keep the wider business informed at all times.
  • Provide occasional support to the press office, including sharing daily coverage roundups and relevant news and keeping our PR management platform up to date with activity.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain, including working with external suppliers for the production of the guide, and the promotional launch campaign.
  • Maintain our corporate assets and resources to help with consistent and accurate key messaging.
  • Provide business support to the media and communications team, including support with budgets, booking meetings and travel arrangements.
  • Work closely with the wider communications and engagement team, as well as the brand and marketing teams, to maximise opportunities to raise awareness and manage the reputation of both Motability Operations and the Motability Scheme.
  • Work with the Motability charity communications team to ensure both organisations are informed of current and upcoming projects as appropriate, and to maintain a positive public profile of the Motability Scheme.
About You

You will play an important role in shaping the way Motability Operations is understood and talked about externally. You will be part of our media and communications team and this role will suit you if:
  • You are passionate about delivering successful communications.
  • You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • You can take complex information and translate it into plain English.
  • You have great interpersonal skills, enjoy working collaboratively and can build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are not afraid to use your own initiative and also ask for help when you are not sure.
  • You are very organised and can manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
  • You understand the importance of attention to detail and time management.
Minimum Criteria:
  • Experience working in a communications or PR role, either agency or in house.
  • A keen eye for detail and excellent copy-writing skills.
  • Experience of coordinating external communications campaigns and reporting against communications objectives.
  • Experience in achieving targets and results, focused on organising and bringing people and resources together to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with many different external and internal stakeholders, including external agencies.
