Charity People is delighted to be partnering with the National Museum of the Royal Navy as they recruit for an experienced communications professional who can develop a corporate and consumer communications strategy to deliver brand engagement and drive revenue generation.
Role: Communications Lead
Contract: Permanent, full time role working 37.5 hours per week
Location: hybrid working between home and office with two days per week in Portsmouth at the museum's main site
Salary: 45,100 per annum
The Communications Lead role is a new and exciting opportunity to lead the communications activities for this national museum across a network of sites across the UK. A brand new role for the organisation, you will support the ambitions of the organisation's strategic plan through creative internal and external communications and engagement initiatives. You will ensure that these initiatives speak to diverse audiences and stakeholders, increase brand awareness, drive footfall and support income targets.
This is a core position within the organisation and the postholder will be key to supporting the museum to grow and expands its impact across education, heritage, communities, and tourism in the future.
In addition, as Communications Lead you can expect to:

  • Develop consumer communications plans as part of multichannel campaigns to support revenue driving opportunities across admissions, promotions, commercial and fundraising activities
  • Work with senior level stakeholders internally to develop the Marketing Strategy and identify and agree priorities
  • Lead on implementation of communications and engagement elements of the strategy, proposing and managing expenditure across PR and communications campaign activity
  • Lead on the development and delivery of the corporate communications, internal communications and crisis communications strategy; driving proactive engagement with the corporate brand and supporting brand development
  • Manage the PR and Communications Officer and external PR agency, as well as supporting the development and management of the Communications Executive and Marketing Assistants in delivery of PR and Communications activities

  • In depth knowledge and practical use and application of developing and implementing communications campaigns and activities
  • Strategic understanding of development and implementation of corporate communications strategy
  • Commercially astute with a proven ability in delivering consumer communications campaigns which deliver against ambitious revenue targets.
  • Experience of managing and improving the brand communications function in a complex organisation
  • Experience of supporting multi-channel campaigns for diverse audiences with consumer communications activity.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team and ability to motivate a team when dealing with changing demands and with tight deadlines.
  • Experience of managing and influencing others at all levels, particularly around complex issues, and of working in complex stakeholder environments.
