As a Communications Officer you will play a crucial role in developing and executing effective communication strategies, supporting the management of internal and external communications, and support various communication initiatives. This position requires strong writing abilities, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. Knowledge of government / public sector communications is very desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of communication strategies that align with the programme\'s goals and objectives.
  • Support with the creation and implementation of both internal and external communications material including but not limited to social media posts, blog posts, newsletters, website copy and events slides and scripts, ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation.
  • Co-ordinate the drafting of the programme\'s weekly \'week note\' sent by the programme director on Fridays - responsibilities include collaborating with teams to gather their content, managing the rota for team\'s contributions and working with the comms manager to edit content.
  • Support with website copywriting and management of the CMS (WordPress)
  • Support with the drafting and publication of Blog posts (WordPress CMS) and LinkedIn articles
  • Support with the design, editing and uploading of video content using Adobe software and YouTube
  • Understanding and appreciation of accessibility requirements on digital platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including graphic designers, programme management and policy colleagues and subject matter/delivery experts to ensure well-planned, cohesive and integrated communication efforts.
  • Manage multiple work streams and projects, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high standard.
This role is 3 days per week for an initial 6 months with a possibility of an extension

Qualifications

What we are looking for:
  • Experience in communications or relevant work experience in marketing, PR, copywriting or related fields
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt the tone and style for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Copywriting and editing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in social media management and content creation.
  • Familiarity with website analytics tools and social media monitoring platforms.
  • Experience of using a variety of digital tools for work management including Slack, Trello, MS Teams & Sharepoint, Google Drive products
Other useful skills:
  • Proficiency in WordPress website CMS systems
  • Experience conducting user/stakeholder research and analysing data to inform communication strategies
  • Event management experience, including organising and coordinating logistics.
  • Knowledge of agile working practices
  • Adobe Creative Suite preferred (especially Premiere Pro Video Editing & Photoshop)
