An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Procurement Team for a 6-month FTC Procurement Officer based at our Newport City Head Office to join the growing Procurement team to support driving positive change throughout the Society.

What will you be doing?

You will play an important part in supporting the Society transform its procurement capability and management of third-party suppliers. As the Procurement Officer, you will be working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to gather, assess and support business requirements.

Using your procurement expertise and knowledge you will proactively lead and support procurement activity, source goods and services, identify and develop cost and risk mitigating strategies to drive value and performance to improve customer outcomes, competitive tendering, draft and negotiate robust contracts to support strategic objectives.

You will also support Supplier Relationship Managers within the Society to identify and drive cost savings and ensure suppliers meet their contractual obligations.

What type of person will you need to be?

The ideal candidate will be MCIPS qualified or equivalent and have previous experience in indirect procurement / supplier management function. As a credible expert in procurement, you will be effective at drafting and negotiating robust contracts for goods and services with evidence of achieving outcomes that balance the interests of all parties; and an understanding of how to leverage value across the lifetime of a third-party engagement. Lastly you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to translate technical language into clear, accurate terminology that non-technical people understand.
