Job Description

Birmingham Hippodrome has been entertaining audiences for over 125 years and welcomes over 500,000 visitors through its doors each year, alongside over 250,000 attendees to our off-site programme.



The Communications team is responsible for telling the Hippodrome story through our multi-channel communications strategy, which includes PR and media coverage, press nights, photocalls, writing long form articles for our programmes and website, creating bespoke content for our social media platforms and developing compelling internal communications to drive sales, engagement, industry profile and brand awareness.



The team works with a range of external PR and Marketing agencies, as well as working closely with the internal Hippodrome teams to deliver communication campaigns for produced work including Festivals, Creative Partnerships (which includes our Youth programme and community engagement work), Fundraising & Development, New Musical Theatre and New Work & Artist Development.

30 hours per week (part-time) across 4 days, including Mondays and Fridays

Location:

Hybrid, with a minimum of two days onsite at Birmingham Hippodrome, plus events work

The Communications Officer will support on the delivery of creating compelling content to raise the profile of Hippodrome produced work and tell the brand story. This will include working with a range of internal teams including Creative Partnerships (which includes our youth programme and access schemes), Fundraising, New Work & Artist Development and New Musical Theatre.


The Communications Officer will also support the day to day delivery and admin for the Communications team, including collating media clippings and statistics for reporting, managing event invites and RSVPs and booking and arranging photography briefs for our internal activity.


The role will work closely across all internal teams, as well external partners, agencies and suppliers.


The postholder will be required to work Monday and Friday, with the remaining days to be agreed with the Head of Communications. Some weekend and evening work will be required for press nights and events, these will be planned in advance.
