We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Communications Officer to support the constituency and parliamentary work of Tom Hayes MP. This is a varied role combining communications, casework support, media engagement and stakeholder liaison. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing constituent communications, maintaining an effective online presence, and supporting proactive engagement with local and national stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Constituent Communications & Casework Support
Manage a high volume of enquiries from constituents via email, phone, social media and face-to-face contact.
Draft clear, accurate and sensitive responses to constituents, including more complex correspondence where required.
Gather relevant information to support case resolution and follow up with external bodies as appropriate.
Log all cases accurately, monitor progress, and ensure actions are completed in a timely manner.
Ensure all records are maintained confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.
Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce clear reports to inform the MP and office team.
Surgeries, Meetings & Office Support
Assist with constituency surgeries and meetings, including follow-up actions.
Attend constituency meetings as required and support ongoing engagement activity.
Communications, Media & Digital
Establish, monitor and update the MP's social media and online presence in the constituency.
Manage and respond to social media enquiries and comments, escalating where appropriate.
Produce engaging digital content

including graphics and short video content.
Publicise surgeries, announcements and local news updates.
Monitor local and relevant media coverage.
Draft press releases and liaise with media on constituency, non-party-political matters, meeting deadlines as required.
Accompany Tom on constituency visits to capture content and support stakeholder management.
Stakeholder Engagement & Parliamentary Support
Lead proactive stakeholder engagement, building and maintaining relationships with local communities, partner organisations and key national bodies.
Support the MP's parliamentary activity, including occasional travel to Westminster to staff APPGs, drop-ins, roundtables, receptions and meetings.
Use parliamentary and stakeholder engagement opportunities to gather insight and create content for social media and press activity.
Person Specification
Essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience handling confidential information with discretion and sensitivity.
Confident using social media platforms in a professional context.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to analyse information and present findings clearly.
Ability to use Canva and CapCut to produce digital assets.
Desirable
Experience working in a political, public affairs, communications or stakeholder engagement role.
Experience producing digital content (graphics and video).
Understanding of constituency or parliamentary casework.
Additional Information
Occasional evening or weekend work will be required.
Occasional travel for work, including to Westminster.
