Chepstow Town Council is looking for a creative, community-focused Communications Officer to lead how we connect with residents, businesses, visitors and partners.
This is a key role at the heart of the Council -- telling our story, promoting our work, and helping Chepstow thrive.
The Details
Hours: 25 hours per week (over 4-5 days, office-based)
Salary: SCP 19-22 (21,662.84 pro rata | 32,061 FTE)
Flexibility: Some evening and weekend work for meetings and events
Reporting to: Town Clerk
The Role
You'll lead the delivery of the Council's Communications & Engagement Strategy, working across everything we do -- from regeneration and the environment to arts, culture, wellbeing and major town events.
This is a hands-on role combining strategy, creativity and delivery.
What You'll Do
? Develop and deliver the Council's Communications Strategy
? Manage and update the Town Council & Drill Hall websites
? Grow and shape our social media presence across multiple platforms
? Produce engaging newsletters (print & digital)
? Promote events, projects and services creatively
? Use insight and analytics to improve engagement
? Work closely with councillors, officers and community stakeholders
About You
You'll have experience in communications, journalism or marketing and a passion for engaging communities.
You'll bring:
Excellent writing and editing skills
Confidence using digital platforms and social media
Experience creating content for different audiences
Strategic thinking with creative flair
Strong organisation and collaboration skills
Most importantly, you'll care about Chepstow and want to make a visible difference.
