Communications Officer

to help shine a light on the vital work of our

Assets

and

HMS

teams, showcasing our commitment to safety and quality and our successes to strengthen our brand, ensuring colleagues, customers, and communities feel fully informed and supported.



This is a hybrid role, with a weekly team day every Wednesday in our Liverpool office. The successful candidate will also be expected to have a presence at our HMS office in Stonebridge, and as required, at our offices in Warrington and St. Helens.

You'll be right at the heart of how we connect with customers, colleagues, communities and partners. From shaping our external voice to keeping our internal communications sharp and timely, your work will help ensure people feel informed, supported and confident in the services we provide. This is a brilliant opportunity to make your mark, lead on exciting projects and bring fresh ideas to the organisation.



You'll take the lead on a wide range of activity as no two days will look the same:

High Impact Communications





Working with senior leaders across Assets and HMS teams to plan, prioritise and deliver key communications. Creating bold and engaging campaigns, including social media, that cut through and boost our external presence. Spotting and shaping good news stories that celebrate success, improve trust and highlight customer impact.

PR and Reputation





Building strong relationships with local media and partners. Preparing news releases, responding to enquiries and managing onsite opportunities at events. Supporting crisis and issues communications, including topics like damp, mould and safety, ensuring responses are timely, accurate and reassuring. Helping to strengthen the Torus and HMS brands

Compelling Content





Producing compelling copy for websites, social channels, newsletters, briefings and internal platforms. Using Content Management System tools to keep our digital content fresh, accessible and up to date. Keeping our digital channels fresh, accessible and reflective of our values. Delivering effective internal communications for operational and customer-facing teams.

Insight Driven Improvements





Using data, research and insight to measure engagement and shape future communication activity. Tracking media coverage, industry trends and emerging opportunities. Championing brand consistency.

Collaboration





Working closely with our wider Communications team to support organisation-wide campaigns, cultural change and continuous improvement. Leading face-to-face engagement sessions with front-facing teams.

Governance and Standards





Ensuring safeguarding, confidentiality, information governance and compliance requirements are met in all communications.

What we're looking for:





We're seeking someone who brings creativity, clarity and confidence - someone who thrives in a busy environment, can tell powerful stories and communicates with purpose, accuracy and impact. You'll thrive in this role if you have:



Degree-level education or relevant training/experience in communications. A professional qualification in marketing, communications, brand, media or digital (or equivalent experience). A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up with new communication trends. Proven experience developing and delivering communication strategies. A hands-on, can-do attitude and strong communication skills. Experience in social media management, content creation and working at pace. Ability to interpret data and insight to improve engagement. Strong project management skills and the ability to navigate change confidently and inclusively. Confidence presenting, influencing and inspiring others. High levels of motivation, resilience, curiosity and commitment to improvement. Ability to build trust with colleagues, partners, tenants and stakeholders. Strong digital skills, including social media platforms and CMS.

Interview process:





The selection process will be a two-stage process:



Stage 1 - 15th January 2026 - MS Teams Call: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an initial virtual interview with the hiring manager. This will focus on discussing the role, your experience, and suitability for the position. Stage 2 - 22nd January 2026 - Face-to-Face Interview: Successful candidates from Stage 1 will be invited to a second, in-person interview at our Liverpool City Centre office, which will include a presentation and competency-based questions.
