Able to follow a conversation or discussion through the medium of Welsh and English on a professional level and discuss general day to day topics in the field in order to present information and express opinions. Able to give a pre-prepared presentation and respond to any comments and questions on it in Welsh or English.

Reading and Understanding - Higher Level

Able to understand standard written Welsh and English; both formal and informal. Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports, articles through the medium of Welsh and English in order to fulfil the post.

Writing - Higher Level

Present written information confidently by letter, more detailed and technical report formats, and respond to written requests conveying information, ideas and opinion in Welsh and English.



Purpose of Post

Develop and implement plans to create creative and engaging multimedia news content (videos, social media clips, on camera interviews, articles etc.) to communicate the Council's work to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders both internally (staff and elected members) and externally (residents and service users).

Equipment

Main Duties .

Plan, script, record / film, edit and promote multimedia material to communicate information about the Council's priorities, projects and day-to-day work to a wide range of internal and external audiences. Organise and attend events to photograph and record material including short on-camera interviews with Cabinet Members, councillors, senior officers, officers and key stakeholders. Work with officers within the Communications and Engagement Service and across the Council to bring Communication Plans and visual stories about the Council's work to life for a range of audiences. Write news stories, articles and communication material to accompany the digital content for the Council website, Staff Intranet, Councillors' Intranet etc. Package digital content for the Council's Facebook, X, Instagram and Bluesky accounts and create vibrant and engaging related written material to promote the content. Create content for a new news site on the Council website and promote the page as an useful source of information for the people of Gwynedd. Work with the Internal Communications Officer to create engaging and creative content to share with staff, for example on the intranet and in the staff magazine. Work with external reporters and news producers to create content that they can use on their news websites etc. Research and create creative and effective content for other Council publications. Develop new ways of communicating information to councillors and staff beyond traditional newsletters. Develop a new social media website plan to ensure that the Council makes effective use of these platforms in the future. Continuously monitor good practice and the latest developments in digital communications and social websites to ensure that the Council continues to make innovative and effective use of these platforms in the future. Build proactive working relationships with officers and Services across the Council to identify and develop opportunities for visual "good news" stories. Ensure that the content produced reflects the Council's values and complies with language and branding standards. Contribute to the general duties of the Communications and Engagement Service and represent the Service in internal and external meetings as required. Responsibility for self-development. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy. Operate within the Council's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality. Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation. Commitment to reducing the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council's Carbon Footprint; Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary and responsibility level of the post. A responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
