Safer Business Network is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company working across London to help create safer towns and cities. Since 2011, we have supported business communities to prevent crime, reduce harm, and improve safety through strong partnerships, effective communication, and practical upskilling. We work closely with local authorities, police, Business Improvement Districts, and businesses to create connected networks and practical solutions that make a real difference to communities.
About the role
We are looking for a Communications and Administration Officer to join our small, friendly team and play a key role in both our day-to-day operations and our communications. This is a varied and meaningful role combining core administration with digital communications and content creation. You will help keep the organisation running smoothly while also supporting how we share our work, projects, and impact. Working closely with the Operations Director, CEO, and Head of Partnerships, you will be a trusted part of the team, contributing ideas, supporting colleagues, and helping Safer Business Network grow its reach and effectiveness.This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, is highly organised, and wants their work to contribute to safer business communities across London.
In this role, you will: Communications and digital engagement
Create, schedule, and manage content across social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and X (Twitter)
Write and edit website content, blog posts, newsletters, and updates that promote our work, projects, and impact
Compile and edit short-form social media videos (e.g. clips, highlights, simple reels) to support engagement and storytelling
Support simple design work for presentations, reports, training materials, and promotional content (e.g. using Canva)
Monitor engagement, respond to messages and comments, and track performance to help strengthen our digital presence
Work with colleagues to ensure consistent messaging and timely communications
Keep up to date with digital and social media best practice, bringing fresh ideas to the team
Administration and organisational support
Provide day-to-day administrative support across the organisation and its projects
Manage general enquiries via the info mailbox, responding to,or directing queries appropriately
Support diary management, meetings, and events, including calendar support for the CEO
Prepare, format, and circulate reports, presentations, and internal communications
Maintain accurate records, including contracts, stakeholder information, asset registers, and key organisational data
Support onboarding of new staff, including coordinating paperwork, access, and induction arrangements
Maintain organised digital and physical filing systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements
Act as a point of contact for suppliers, partners, and internal team members
Manage office supplies and equipment, placing orders as required
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience in an administrative or office support role
Is confident in writing clear, engaging content and using social media for organisations or projects
Is highly organised, reliable, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities
Has strong communication skills and a good eye for detail
Is confident using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
Is willing to undertake a DBS check

It would be great if you also have:
Experience using social media scheduling or analytics tools
Experience editing or compiling short social media videos (e.g. using CapCut or similar tools)
Basic design or content creation skills (e.g using Canva)
An interest in, or understanding of, community safety, crime prevention, or partnership-based working
