Do you have a passion for working with children and young people?
As a Community Activator Coach apprentice , you will play a key role in improving the physical, mental and social wellbeing of individuals and communities through the delivery of fun, inclusive and engaging sport and physical activity sessions.
You will act as a positive role model, inspiring inactive people--especially young people and those from underrepresented or marginalised groups--to take up and sustain an active lifestyle.
You'll work alongside partners such as youth workers, schools, local authorities, health professionals to deliver a programmes of community sport and outreach, supporting and developing young people.
Alongside this you will work with a development coach to complete your qualification
Your key responsibilities will include -
Plan and deliver inclusive sport and physical activity sessions tailored to the needs of different target groups (e.g. teenagers, families, older adults).
Build strong, motivational relationships with participants, acting as a mentor and positive role model.
Support the design and delivery of community events, festivals, and outreach programmes including the delivery of Holiday Activity & Food Programme.
Use behaviour change techniques and motivational approaches to encourage lifelong physical activity habits in line with Healthy Eating Standards.
Promote youth opportunities and help young people, get involved in community-led activities.
Use local insight to shape sessions and ensure that activities meet the needs and motivations of young people incorporating youth voice.
Monitor attendance, collect feedback, and evaluate the impact of sessions using platforms such as Upshot or Views.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies (schools, youth clubs) to develop tailored interventions.
Safeguard the wellbeing of participants and manage any disruptive behaviour sensitively and appropriately.
Promote activities via appropriate social media platforms, engaging different age groups effectively.
What we are looking for :
Understanding of the health and wellbeing benefits of sport and physical activity.
Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and during school holidays.
Ability to build rapport with a wide range of individuals and communities.
Experience delivering or supporting physical activity or sports sessions.
Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion.
Basic understanding of community engagement, outreach, and informal education.
Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
IT-literate, including use of monitoring systems and social media.
