Job Description


Are you an enthusiastic, innovative, self-motivated dentist who is concerned with maintaining, improving, and advising upon the delivery of general dental services (GDS) in Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan in line with national and local policy and targets? If so, we would like to hear from you.

Cardiff & Vale UHB serves a population of around 520,000 with an annual primary care dental budget in excess of 28m and contracts with over 62 GDP practices. This role is key to the delivery of high quality, safety and effective patient care and to support continuous service improvement.
Main duties of the job

In this role, you will be responsible to the Head of Dental and Optometry and the Clinical Director for Primary Care Clinical Governance. You will work within a primary care team, supporting the areas of quality, safety, governance, performance and clusters and you will be a key advisor providing expertise and advice on good practice.

You will be employed on Cardiff and Vale UHB terms and conditions working in a multi-disciplinary team, with opportunities for training, development and CPD.

Your hours of work will be two sessions (4 hours per session) per week. The post is available on a permanent basis.

Qualifications
Essential

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery, BDS/BChD or equivalent
  • Full registration with the United Kingdom\'s General Dental Council (GDC) and inclusion on a Dental Performers List in Wales
  • Evidence of meeting General Dental Council Continuing Professional Development Requirements (including up-to-date CPD profile incorporating all core subjects)
Desirable
  • Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK)
  • Diploma in General Dental Practice
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications appropriate to primary dental care
Experience
Essential
  • Current/recent hands on clinical practice
  • Substantive practice experience of at least 5 years - to include experience of General Dental Practice within the 2006 dental contractual arrangements (desirable at principal level) in the last 3 years.
Desirable
  • Previous advisory roles
  • Experience of primary care policy, development, planning and implementation at Health Body/ LHB level
  • Experience through membership of a Local or District Dental Committee or similar body e.g. GDPC Wales of the generic issues relating to General Dental Practice

Our Structure
