To provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Mamacita Foundation's food security and community support services, ensuring compliant, efficient, and high-quality delivery of food bank operations, volunteer management, and partnerships that reduce food insecurity and promote dignity and wellbeing across Aberdeen.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Food Bank Operations
Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of Mamacita Foundation's food bank and emergency food support services, supporting 100+ households weekly.
Design and implement operational systems for stock control, logistics, and service delivery, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
Oversee inventory management frameworks aligned with FIFO principles.
2. Compliance, Quality & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with UK food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding standards.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and risk assessments for food handling, volunteer activities, and service user engagement.
Maintain accurate operational records, incident logs, and data returns required by funders, regulators, and trustees.
3. Volunteer Leadership & Workforce Development
Recruit, train, supervise, and performance-manage volunteers and junior coordinators across food bank services.
Deliver structured food bank inductions and ongoing training to ensure safe, empathetic, and non-judgemental service delivery.
Act as a senior point of escalation, providing guidance and emotional intelligence in complex or sensitive cases within the food bank.
4. Community Engagement & Partnerships
Build and manage relationships with local authorities, food suppliers, donors, faith groups, and third-sector partners to strengthen referral pathways and resource pipelines.
Represent Mamacita Foundation at partnership meetings and community forums, contributing to collaborative responses to poverty and social exclusion.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven senior experience in food distribution and logistics
Demonstrated leadership of volunteer or staff teams
Strong understanding of food safety, health & safety, and compliance frameworks
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
High level of record-keeping, reporting, and organisational capability
