Overview of the Role



We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Community Pharmacist to lead the clinical and professional aspects of Bampton Pharmacy. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a new, integrated model with Bampton Surgery, ensuring cohesive patient pathways and modernising the delivery of pharmacy services within a thriving rural community.

The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the future of Bampton Pharmacy--driving high-quality clinical care, expanding Pharmacy First and locally commissioned services, strengthening digital workflows, and contributing to claim optimisation from day one. Working in close collaboration with the GP practice team, the post holder will support the development of innovative services, enhanced patient experience, and strong contractual performance.

Key Responsibilities



1. Clinical Leadership & Service Development



Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the Pharmacy First service in close collaboration with Bampton Surgery. Identify, expand, and embed advanced, enhanced, and locally commissioned services that meet local population needs. Maintain expert knowledge of NHS and local pharmacy contracts to ensure full compliance and maximise income opportunities. Conduct clinical audits, ensuring high standards of safety, governance, and professional practice. Support integration of digital tools to enhance clinical quality and streamline patient pathways.

2. Collaboration with Bampton Surgery



Work closely with GPs, nurses, and practice-based teams to deliver seamless, joined-up patient care. Contribute to the development of shared pathways between pharmacy and practice to improve access, reduce duplication, and support patient self-management. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings or service-planning discussions when required. Establish strong relationships to support joint initiatives, particularly around chronic disease management, minor illnesses, and medicine optimisation.

3. Patient Experience, Engagement & Digital Access



Champion excellent patient experience across all pharmacy services. Support patients to understand and use digital tools. Encourage appropriate use of pharmacy services and strengthen the pharmacy's presence in the local community.

4. Clinical Governance & Compliance



Ensure all services and day-to-day clinical activity comply with GPhC standards, NHS contractual obligations, and organisational policies. Ensure safe systems for dispensing, clinical checking, SOP compliance, incident management and reporting. Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional, legal and governance requirements. Contribute to safeguarding, controlled drug compliance and data protection standards. Support new digital governance processes in partnership with the Operations Manager and central digital leads.

5. Financial & Contractual Performance



Ensure all claims, submissions and clinical activity records are accurate, timely, and maximised. Identify opportunities for new or enhanced services that support financial sustainability and meet local demand. Monitor service uptake, outcomes and missed opportunities, contributing ideas for improvement. Support pharmacy development aligned to the wider AHG strategy and Bampton's integrated model.

6. Team Support & Clinical Staff Development



Act as the professional lead for the pharmacy team, supporting safe, effective and patient-centred practice. Provide informal teaching, coaching and clinical supervision for pharmacy support staff. Support the training and confidence-building of staff in delivering Pharmacy First and other services. Encourage a positive, collaborative culture where all staff understand their role in delivering high-quality care.

Person Specification



Essential



MPharm degree (or equivalent) GPhC registration as a Pharmacist Strong understanding of NHS pharmacy services, Pharmacy First, and funding streams Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with the GP surgery Commitment to high standards of patient care and patient experience Strong clinical judgement and attention to detail Ability to use and adapt to digital pharmacy tools and systems Ability to contribute to claim optimisation and accurate clinical recording

Desirable



Experience working in close partnership with GP practices or within an integrated care model IP Qualification (or commitment ot undertake this) Experience delivering enhanced and commissioned services Interest in digital transformation and workflow modernisation

Pay: From 35,463.89 per year
