We are looking for a Community Support Worker to join our staff team at Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College Campus.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the campus and further contribute to the life chances of young people in the school and across the Trust. The Community Support Worker will assist in the supervision of the students during break/lunch to promote their welfare, health & safety and encourage good conduct and behaviour.

Main responsibilities:

Conduct patrols around our local campus to ensure students behave in a responsible and respectful manner towards one another, residents and property Report all safeguarding and health and safety issues Monitor assigned places / property, staying vigilant to identify any students' inappropriate behaviour or at risk of injury, intervening where necessary Conduct all of your duties with highest level of professionalism, tenacity and a work ethic with a willingness to carry out instructions and not take shortcuts Undertake appropriate safeguarding and safer working practices training in line with your role Incidents occurring will need to be recorded using our college systems. Training will be provided and guidance given from the Support Services Team Leader Maintain a clean, tidy and organised environment for all users of the facility Undertake playground duty, supervising by circulating amongst the students. Supervise students in designated areas of the buildings other than the playground Attend to minor accidents and ensure students are taken to Student Reception in order to receive First Aid Report to a member of the Senior Management Team any untoward circumstances Ensure that students do not leave the College without permission of a Head of Year or SMT Assist staff as required in order to care for the safety and well-being of students Monitor corridors during lessons and ensure that students are escorted to appropriate areas.


You will need:

Literacy and numeracy skills for following instructions and completing training as and when required Awareness of health and safety procedures Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills Excellent communicator - sensitive, compassionate and effective Knowledge and understanding of managing the behaviour of groups of children Recognise behaviour giving cause for concern, and inform relevant staff Able to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people, students and colleagues. Committed to the safeguarding of children Good verbal communication skills
