Role: Community Support Worker

Salary: 11,793 (increasing to 12,589 from April 2026)

This role is to provide support to deaf, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing people that have requested specific support from our organisation to meet their ongoing needs. You will be a positive role model to enable service users to achieve their goals. There are a number of services and projects that we deliver and you will be expected to deliver this work with the existing team to make a difference to our service users.
As a Community Support Worker, you will provide a holistic approach to providing support utilising our services and project work. You will assess the needs of deaf, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing people for suitable equipment to assist in daily living and organise the provision/installation of equipment, adaptations and smoke alarms in an accessible way so service users know how to manage the equipment. This will involve making referrals to the relevant organisations. You will provide further support in hearing aid maintenance supporting others to do the same. You may also be expected to support service users with daily living support using their specific support plans following a person-centred approach such as helping them to develop skills in preparing meals, shopping, budgeting guidance and any other needs as identified on their support plans i.e., providing travel training to and from appointments and daily routine tasks, etc. You will also support them in meeting their social needs by providing recreational activities to improve wellbeing. You may also provide support to them to book their own appointments and deal with general day to day correspondence if they ask for this support.
You will inspire, motivate and be passionate about sharing your own and others personal experiences of deafness both positive and negative to achieve your goals. You will provide deaf representation at network events, to assist social club volunteers with social activities as and when required, to deliver ad-hoc work elsewhere, monitor the outcomes of this work and the individuals associated to our organisation.
