Contractual Status:

Fixed term contract to 30th June 2026

Working Pattern:

6 hours per week, worked over 2 nights per week

Salary:

15.00 per hour

Annual Leave Entitlement:

25 days, plus 9 public holidays, plus 3 days for Christmas shutdown pro-rata

What you'll do

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Community Workers to join our StreetwYze team. As part of the role you will work alongside the StreetwYze team to deliver a range of early interventions and diversionary activities via street work to youths involved in or on the periphery of anti-social behaviour and gang violence within the communities we serve. You will conduct street work in the evenings to engage with young people within local communities.

As part of your role, your main responsibilities will include:

Working as part of the FARE Scotland StreetwYze team to develop and provide appropriate outreach programmes, internal referral processes and recording systems to achieve positive outcomes in line with the aims of FARE Scotland. Delivering direct, targeted interventions and support for young people who have been identified through a variety of programmes such as street work and by partners such as local authorities, housing associations, educational establishments or Police Scotland. Engaging with hard-to-reach individuals in a range of formal and informal settings across their local community. Ensuring all work including programmes, training, interventions and support to individuals, groups and organisations are effectively recorded and monitored to facilitate planning, achieve outcomes. Contributing to performance management on an individual, project and organisational basis using the information to produce high quality statistics and reports as required. Identifying and developing positive relationships with external providers who can support the holistic development of young people. Establishing links across communities with local partners and agencies, promoting access to diversionary activities and initiatives. Representing FARE Scotland at various promotional and funding events - promoting the work being undertaken and the outcomes achieved in the programme. Gathering intelligence data and provide information for reports as and when requested.

About you

The successful candidate for this role will have:

Experience of performing street work duties and programmes. An understanding of anti-social behaviours, gang violence, knife crime and the wider community challenges surrounding them. The ability to motivate individuals facing multiple personal, social or emotional barriers within their lives. Good knowledge of Community Support & Development and the relationship these have in the holistic development of young people and the community. Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour. The ability to deal with conflict positively using a range of de-escalation techniques or methods. The ability to work with people at all levels internally and externally. The ability to develop positive and strong working relationships with colleagues. The drive and initiative to work independently. The ability to share learning and develop practice through feedback and observations. Experience of delivering issue-based workshops. The ability to identify health and safety risks and concerns in changing circumstances and environments. The ability to converse with young people and other members of the community on a range of social topics and issues.
