We are looking for a Lay Community Worker to work alongside the leadership team to build an intergenerational church, with Strong links to the local community, and in which children and families play a central role. The post offers an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the life of the church community, working with the local congregation, the leadership and the minister.
All applicants must be able to demonstrate their right be be able to work in the United Kingdom. The church is unable to offer sponsorship to overseas applicants.
Responsibilities
Work alongside the minister and the leadership team, in pursuit of the church's mission plan - with a focus on families and children
Recuit, co-ordinate, encourage and equip volunteers for church-run activities
Initiate activities that address the needs of the church and the local community
Be a visible presence for the church in the community, enabling the church to make new connections with individuals and with groups
Attend and contribute to church services at least twice a month, to maintain good relations with the congregation
Promote the church in all forms of communication, including on line
Experience
The applicant must be a practising Christian, with a good understanding of Methodism
The ability to work alone, but as part of a wider team
Trained (or be willing to be trained) in all aspects of Safeguarding, including risk assessement
Flexibility in hours of work
Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate to people of all ages
Ability to demonstrate relevant experience
The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage, but is not essential
