To support the promotion and development of Compassionate Communities programme by creating and sharing social media content that raises awareness and encourages community involvement.
This includes managing social media content, supporting outreach to key networks, growing the initiative's digital presence and engaging with local audiences online, with guidance from your line manager.
A level of commitment is required for this role to be discussed and mutually agreed with the line manager.
Main duties of the role
Assist with marketing and promotion of Compassionate Communities through social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms.
Create engaging content that supports awareness-raising and community outreach.
Support networking efforts by identifying and connecting with local target groups, community partners, and online communities.
Assist in tracking engagement and impact through basic analytics and reporting.
Attend meetings and events as needed and contribute to creative planning.
Help ensure all communications align with the ethos and tone of St Helena and Compassionate Communities.
Work from home, St Helena sites, or community locations as required.
Create and schedule social media content such as posts, stories, and short videos.
Support online campaigns that highlight Compassionate Communities activities.
Engage with followers and local community pages to promote the programme.
Suggest ideas for content that connects with a wider audience.
Attend occasional in-person events to capture photos or live content.
Take guidance from your line manager and follow any branding guidelines provided
Training & Supervision
Regular supervisor meetings will be arranged within volunteer hours with a dedicated line manager.
Training relevant to the role is mandatory including online training.
Compassionate Conversations training to be taken online or in-person
Experience & qualifications required
A professional or academic background in marketing, communications, or digital media is highly desirable
Demonstrable experience in managing or contributing to social media accounts, either personally, professionally, or on behalf of an organisation
Proficiency in using social media scheduling and content creation tools
A solid understanding of social media best practices including accessibility, branding, and audience engagement
Excellent written communication skills, with an ability to create clear, engaging, and appropriate content
Confidence in representing a respected organisation online, including responding appropriately to comments or enquiries
Ability to work independently, manage your time effectively, and meet deadlines
