Key Responsibilities: Compliance Fire Officer
The Compliance Fire Officer will be responsible for ensuring the organisation maintains full compliance with UK fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and subsequent amendments. The role will oversee Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), emergency preparedness, resident engagement, contractor performance, and internal reporting. They will act as the primary liaison with the Fire Service, support the company's fire safety strategy, and foster a culture of safety through leadership, training, and continuous improvement.
Fire Risk Assessment and Audit:
Management of Internal FRA review process (ensuring regional teams are fully skilled and completing per schedule)
Take responsibility for instructing, auditing and certifying Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) ensuring remedial actions are completed on time ensure 100% compliance
Ownership of Alarm certification and remedials to ensure 100% compliance
Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments, including evaluations of alarms, emergency lighting, fire exit routes and fire suppression systems.
Regularly audit and assess the effectiveness of existing fire safety measures.
Emergency Preparedness:
Serve as the point person for the fire service, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation.
Conduct desktop exercises to test and enhance emergency preparedness.
Resident Awareness:
Develop and implement initiatives to raise awareness among student residents regarding fire safety.
Provide educational materials and organize training sessions for residents.
Fire Strategy:
Assist in the development and implementation of the company's fire strategy.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of fire safety measures and protocols.
Contractor Management:
Onboard and validate accredited contractors for all aspects of fire safety.
Conduct quality audits of a sample (minimum 20%) of contractor works each quarter.
Manage quarterly contractor reviews
Reporting and Forecasting:
Produce monthly KPI reports for the monthly RPM meeting
Quarterly KPI reports on fire assets to assist in forecasting and asset management.
Leadership and Training:
Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety and adherence to fire protocols.
Recommend and organise training programs for wider teams to enhance overall fire safety awareness.
Qualifications and Skills:
NEBOSH Level 3 in Fire Safety - essential
Fire Qual Level 5 Fire Risk Assessments - desirable
Fire Accreditation including CPD evidence
Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven organisational and project management abilities.
Experience in conducting fire risk assessments and audits.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
