We have an exciting opportunity to join the Technical team as Compliance Manager at our Hamilton site as part of \xe2\x80\x98Finsbury Food Group\xe2\x80\x99. 135 years of craft baking skills lie behind the quality of the special branded cakes, sweet snacks and slices we produce in Hamilton and 55 million products are produced each year. Lightbody is the UK\xe2\x80\x99s largest supplier of celebration cakes to UK retailers, with Disney, Mars, Universal and Thorntons all within the portfolio of branded cakes made under licence. We also make a variety of supermarkets\xe2\x80\x99 well-loved own-label cakes and in-store bakery bites.

To be a success in this role, you will need a can-do attitude, be able to work as part of a team and demonstrate clear communication skills. It would also be preferable that you have a food science or food manufacturing background and knowledge of BRCGS.

In this busy and varied role you will be a vital senior member of the Technical team and will be responsible for setting the technical standards and systems for the company\xe2\x80\x99s products and processes and to ensure these meet legislative, company and customer requirements. You will also be responsible for the daily overall running of the Compliance team.


Day to day you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks which will include ensuring that the company is always prepared for audits; and managing all customer audits. You will be required to ensure internal compliance with all relevant systems and will manage the internal audit system to satisfy customer and BRC requirement, driving corrective actions needed.


Part of your role with include joint responsibility with the site Technical Manager for liaison with outside bodies, establishing strong links with enforcement organisations including the Local Environmental Health Department. You will also work alongside the wider Technical team and be responsible for the management and development of a Compliance Coordinator.


Other duties will include managing allergen control on the site and maintaining the accuracy of allergen information, providing knowledge and advice regarding all food safety and compliance issues and responding to queries internally and externally. You will also be responsible for all health and safety issues within the scope of this role including adopting and implementing good housekeeping practices. Producing risk assessments as appropriate and under the guidance of the Health & Safety Adviser.


In the role you will work closely with the site operations team and therefore you will need good communication to build positive relationships with key stakeholders. You will also regularly host and present at meetings and we are looking for a confident individual who is comfortable communicating with others. This is a busy and varied role within a large site and you will be able to work at pace whilst maintaining a high standard of work.


Ideally this is you!

  • Food manufacturing experience with qualifications in food science, technology/nutrition or relevant experience
  • Previous experience gained in a food production environment and in dealing with the supermarket multiples.
  • Trained auditor with an in-depth working knowledge of HACCP, BRC (version 5) and internal auditing systems.
