We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive

Compliance Officer

to oversee our regulatory obligations, strengthen internal controls, and promote an ethical, compliant workplace culture. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and experience interpreting regulations relevant to our industry.

As the Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the business complies with all applicable UK laws, hospitality regulations, brand standards, and internal policies. This role supports risk management, conducts audits, oversees mandatory training, and ensures our guests and team members operate in a safe, ethical, and legally compliant environment.

Working closely with all departments to maintain compliance standards across all operations. You will support senior leadership during internal and external audits, insurance assessments, and governmental inspections.

This role is essential in upholding legal, safety, and brand standards across the business, ensuring that all departments work efficiently, responsibly, and in line with regulatory requirements.

Legal & Regulatory Compliance:

o Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legislation

o Maintain statutory records, certificates, and inspection logs (fire risk assessments, PAT testing, legionella monitoring, etc.)

Policies, Governance & Brand Standards

o Develop, update, and communicate hotel compliance policies and standard operating procedures

o Align compliance processes with CitySuites and Embankment brand standards

o Monitor departmental adherence and take corrective action when needed

Audits & Risk Management

o Conduct internal compliance audits covering:

Health & safety

Fire safety

Food hygiene

Security

Guest data protection

Financial controls

o Identify operational risks and collaborate with department heads to implement corrective and preventive actions

o Support the General Manager in maintaining risk registers and incident logs

Training & Team Development

o Deliver mandatory compliance training

o Ensure departmental training records are up to date and compliant with audit requirements

Incident Management & Reporting

o Lead investigations into compliance breaches, safety incidents, or guest complaints involving legal or regulatory risks

o Ensure RIDDOR reporting obligations are met where applicable

o Provide regular compliance reports to senior management and head office

Data Protection & Security

o Act as the point of contact for GDPR compliance within the business

o Conduct periodic reviews of data handling, CCTV usage, and secure storage practices

o Work with IT to ensure cyber-security standards meet UK data protection requirements

Competencies and Skills:



Strong knowledge of UK hospitality legislation and Health and Safety requirements Excellent communication, auditing, and investigative skills High attention to detail and strong documentation abilities Ability to deliver training effectively to all levels of staff Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Personal integrity and sound judgement, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence
